In August 2018 I decided to try Tailwind after I suffered an injury to my right calf in the 4th mile of a 1/2 Marathon in July 2018. I think that a culmination of the heat, Triathlon racing, & training caught up to my body.
I’d been hearing rave reviews in the running & triathlon communities that Tailwind was a good fueling/hydration system so I figured I’d give it a TRI. Two days before my Triathlon my Tailwind order arrived. Against my better judgment I broke the cardinal rule to never try anything new right before race day. I pre-fueled with the Raspberry Buzz. From the 1st bottle I could feel the extra kick. Tailwind got me through that Triathlon with my fastest swim & NO cramping in any part of my body. I’ve been using Tailwind for every workout since then (& along with two additional half marathons & 1 triathlon).
3 months after my a career slowest 2:20:06 1/2 Marathon in June (Bristol) followed by a disappointing half in September (Jamestown) my fueling has helped me get back on track.
Yesterday I completed my final 1/2 marathon of the season with an almost perfectly split race (chip time of 1:58:10-my 2nd fastest time on the course). This was the 1st race that I’ve ever felt like I had no energy drops-bonks. The Tailwind kept me hydrated throughout the race with no cramping.
I’m looking forward to using the product during a full race season.
PS the personal notes in the boxes (& name on the bags) are pretty cool.
