I'm sorry I ever strayed from Tailwind

Posted by James Allen on 6th Aug 2019

Mea culpa... I folded to the Siren's song of a heavily discounted competitor's hydration mix and my gut revolted in protest.

I said to myself; "Self, you've been using Tailwind for nearly 7 years now. Perhaps there are other, more advanced hydration products out there in the market now. Oh look, a discount code for 65% off their (ridiculously overpriced) MSRP. Okay self, we're doing this; we are going to see how far the science of liquid hydration has progressed."

The new product arrives, I read every word of the label and am first put off by these foreign terms... Aspartame... what the... " [tap,tap,tap... web search for aspart... ewwww, a low-calorie, intense artificial sweetener. ARTIFICIAL?!?]

Back to the label... okay, but everything else looks on the up and up... wait a second... "Natural Flavors" that's a pretty big umbrella that can mask a lot of stuff.

Sigh... well... I've spent the money; I should at least try it for a bike ride or two, right?

Nope, should've left it sealed and donated it to the food pantry, or sold it as an embalming agent at a funeral parlor trade show.

Even mixed below the recommended serving ratio, the taste was intensely sweet (thanks Aspartame) and left an acrid aftertaste with every pull of the bottle (thanks again, and again, and again Aspartame) Like a horrible version of lemonade that has only been sweetened with those artificial packets of tabletop sweeteners you see in restaurants.

Spoiler... Tailwind still reigns supreme for the perfect, individually tunable levels of hydration required by endurance athletes... especially this one!

Thank you for a great product that keeps me from bonking and doesn't tear up my gut. We buy it in bulk and the whole family uses it on long rides.

    Great Fuel

Posted by Joel on 5th Aug 2019

I used Tailwin for my training this past winter as I was preparing for my first Trail 50K. It was awesome fuel for both the training and for the race. I just purchased more as I'm building up longer runs again and need to stay hydrated and keep my energy up in the August heat!

Endurance Fuel

All you need, all day. Really.

Tailwind mixes with water to meet all your calorie, hydration, and electrolyte needs, without upsetting your stomach or making your taste buds revolt. Just toss it in a bottle or hydration pack, shake, and GO!

Nutrition Facts

  • Complete calories, electrolytes, and hydration: Ditch the gels, chews, and pills, and go all day with just Tailwind.
  • No gut bombs: Stomach problems? You’ll love Tailwind. Unless you enjoy being doubled over, retching.
  • Tasty all day: Clean, light flavors taste better the longer you go.
  • Hydration pack love: Dissolves on contact with water and cleans up with a quick rinse. No film, aftertaste or science experiments!
  • All natural: Crystal clear with no dyes, preservatives or 4-syllable magical ingredients.

Each serving is 100 calories. For endurance workouts, mix 2-3 scoops per 24 oz of water per hour. Adjust to your personal calorie needs during training, using hunger as a guide. When it’s dialed in, you’ll feel satisfied and energetic, not hungry or full. On hot days, keep the same calories per hour, but increase water. To use in combo with other foods, reduce Tailwind intake by the calories you’re consuming elsewhere to avoid overloading the gut. For shorter workouts (<2hr), you can use less Tailwind to taste.
